Day 132: Namibia is On to Something

Namibia's wildlife was under great threat from poachers during the 1970s and 1980s, resulting in many species facing extinction during that time.

The poachers were mostly not organised criminals selling various body-parts of the animals for profit as is a common problem facing wildlife in other countries - they were mostly indigenous Namibians living on communal lands, for whom poaching was often the only means to feed their family. They hunted the animals for food.

This problem of poachers has virtually been eliminated and currently, NImibia has the largest population of free roaming black rhinos and cheetahs, an elephant population of 20,000 (coming from 13,000) and 130 lions (coming from 24).

So - what happened?

In simple terms - those who were previously poaching animals, were hired to become game guards. This provided them with the income they previously lacked, that enabled them to feed their families without the need to hunt wildlife. The project has been a huge success, partially because the ex-poachers simply have the best skills and experience in tracking wild animals - skills and experience they required to hunt the animals.

Previous attempts from the Namibian government to 'come down hard' on the poachers with severe sanctions had no results - because despite an incentive to change their behaviour, the cause of the behaviour was not addressed, and thus the criminal activity persisted.

The Equal Money System predicts that if everyone is provided with the goods and services he/she needs to live a dignified life, that crime will drop extensively. Why? Because it immediately addresses the need for crime - which in many cases is a lack.
Certain forms of crime originate from internal conflict, which is misdirected unto others. This point will be addressed through the transformation of the labour system, where each one will only require to work for a limited amount of years while completing their internship, after which labour is strictly on a voluntary basis. Considering that work conditions are often the source of dissatisfaction in people's lives, as well as the fact that working takes up most of people's time, robbing individuals of the needed time to address their inner world and experiences. With sufficient time and support, individuals will be able to take responsibility for their inner world, removing another big source of crime.

So - yes, Namibia is on to something - so is the Equal Money System - go check it out.

Day 125: Double Con - Australian Mining Interests in Africa

The Australian Government is channeling money which was allocated as Australian Aid Funds towards companies who are members of the Australian Africa Mining Group Industry. Instead of this money being used for that it was allocated for, it is being used by these Australian mining companies to further their own interests.

They have been using the Aid money to fund their own Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Now, Corporoate Social Responsibilities programs or short - CSR - is supposed to be the an initiative coming from the company itself, where the company shows that it is not just interested with profit maximization but also wants to contribute to the environment and social community and show that it has some ethical values.

Obviously, this sort of initiatives/projects are supposed to be funded with the companies own money, as a sign of good-will, where the company "gives something back" to the community it is taking from.

So now, these Mining companies, are using Aid money to fund their CSR projects, as a PR-stunt, to make them look good and responsible, while of course if this money hadn't been available, they wouldn't have done it -- so it's really just a con. Furthermore, a lot of these companies have been known to be involved in human right violation, labour abuse, corruption and non-compliance with environmental laws.

So this whole CSR in itself is already quite a scam , as a 'band-aid' for all the corporate sins, where they show a little goodwill here and there but where the corporate word/system will not have a look at how these sins came about and so do away with the traditional way of doing business and come up with a new business design which is not drenched within complete inconsideration and disregard for Life on Earth and the natural balance of things -- because if they had, they would not have to go and make a little 'corporate social responsibility' project on the side -- their whole way of doing business would be Living Responsibility which is the only way we are ever going to be able to produce and distribute goods and services on Earth without creating disastrous consequences for current and future generations.

So I guess in a way, these companies are tired of 'keeping up the facade' Of "goodwill" and "good intentions" -- where they blatantly use Aid money to fund their so called "goodwill" -- while at the same time preventing this money from actually going to people who need it -- I mean, Africa's already poor, now here comes some Rich country and exploit the mineral resources while at the same time denying it aid so that it can use that money for its own private interests.

But then, again -- aid money is also not a solution, which you can read about in these blogs:
Day 20: The Insanity of Economics - Food Aid Does not Help the Poor
Day 106: Structural Adjustment
Famine Caused by Excess of Food - Only in Capitalism!

So what is the solution?

The solution is the way of the Equal Money System, where we take a whole new look at how we do things in this world -- as all can clearly see that what is going on in this world is a Complete Fuck-Up and this could have only been brought about by us human beings acting in a way that support Fuck Ups.

Check out the Goals, check out the Wiki and Vote/Comment on the policies. Here's a real solution to the problems in our world, which will be integrated into every aspect of society -- so we can do away with 'band-aid' solutions which make us 'feel better' but make no actual contribution to manifesting actual change in this world.

Day 109: Politics as a Double-Faced Game

I forgive myself for accepting and allowing myself to believe that if I change the face/the appearance of something, that that something actually changed.

I forgive myself for not accepting and allowing myself to realise that to change the form of something does not mean that that something actually changed.

I forgive myself for not accepting and allowing myself to realise that any political reforms can get away with changing the form/face/appearance of the government and way of ruling, but in its essential character can remain unchanged.

I forgive myself for accepting and allowing myself to be satisfied with numbers and superficial facts of how elections are being held in African countries and opposition parties are allowed to be formed, etc. - without looking further than the surface and actually investigating what the practicaly daily living reality is of the politics in Africa - where corruption and neopatrimonialism contitute the rules of the game.

I forgive myself for accepting and allowing myself to believe that the international community is genuine in its efforts to facilitate the democratic transition in Africa instead of looking at what they have to gain from this change - where states and economies are being assimilated to the ones in the rest of the world, and so facilitating globalisation, which is a necessity for continued exploitation of the developing nations.

I forgive myself for not accepting and allowing myself to question why the international community is turning a blind eye to these virtual democracies, where, despite international monitoring of elections, the results are often invalid and the result of rigging and manipulation - where the international community proves that they don't really care about the well-being of the local populations, but only care to uphold an appearance of care - allowing them to entrench themselves further in the policy making of foreign states, giving them more control over their economies and, thus, resources.

I commit myself to change the interaction between nations from being tricks and manipulation, to genuine communication and support.

I commit myself to encourage people to see the hidden agreements and interactions happening within politics.

I commit myself to stop politics from being a double-faced game where what it seems is never what it really is, as what it really is is always driven by self-interest and personal gratification.

Day 108: Virtual Democracies

This Blog is a continuation to:
Day 106: Structural Adjustment

In the above-mentioned blog-post the main types of economical reforms that are demanded by the IMF and the World Bank from developing countries have been laid out. Though, the IMF/World Bank don't keep to only demanding economic reforms. They also demand political reforms. Specifically, authoritarian regimes are asked to install liberal democracies in their countries - and if they don't, they won't receive further aid.

Once this demand for political reforms was declared, many, if not most, African countries started holding elections, started allowing opposition parties, started allowing independent media and freedom of speech, etc. On the surface, it seemed like the whole of Africa had converted to liberal values and principles - however, how substantial were the democracies and to what extent were they just an image, a projection, to keep the rich nations happy and willing to continue providing aid?

The holding of elections in African nations has often being applauded as a sign of successful democratic transition. However, most elections were problematic and the validity of their outcomes sincerely doubtful. Incumbents regimes (incumbent means 'currently in power') in many cases manipulated the electoral process in any way they could to be able to remain in power. They handpicked partisans to serve on so-called 'independent' electoral commissions, they denied opposition parties access to state-owned media, they used state resources to fund their electoral campaigns, invented new electoral rules and qualifications to exclude critical segments of the opposition and used the police and other security agencies to intimidate and harass opposition candidates. This frustrating of the electoral process often led to the boycotting of elections and the rejection of election results.

One of the consequences is that because the incumbent regime was now apparently re-elected by the people, the authoritarian rulers were given a form of legitimacy, further anchoring themselves into their power-seats.

In terms of opposition parties - as has already been shown - they often did not have a real chance at winning the elections. One of the problems was self-inflicted, where every disgruntled elite and aspirant president formed their own opposition party. At some point in Zaire there were over 200 opposition parties. The opposition parties did not really have a clear agenda or standpoint, except that they were 'against' the current rulers - and thus they didn't provide any desirable alternatives. Also, any 'loss of votes' on the part of the incumbent regime were distributed amongst all of these different opposition parties, not allowing any of them to gather sufficient votes to stand as a real 'threat' to the incumbent regime.

The upholding and protecting of human rights is seen as an important part of democracy - yet, in the 'newly converted' nations, human rights have continued to be breached - where the rights of outspoken critics, members of the opposition and independent media to free speech, association and fair hearings were regularly denied - where they were even harassed and detained without charge or trial for extended periods of time.

Accountability to the population is what democracy is all about - yet this is often completely absent in the African 'democracies'. They are generally entirely insensitive of the demands and welfare of their citizens, corruption, clientelism and violations of the rule of law are the general way of doing things. Furthermore, to what extent can national governments be accountable to their population if their loyalties lie with international donors and agencies upon which they depend for money?

We really only mentioned a few points in this blog - but this alone should clarify how the newly reformed African 'democracies' are in fact still the same old authoritarian governments, dressed up in a democratic costume. On the surface they will play the game of elections and opposition parties, but when it comes down to it, any method is used to remain in power and do whatever benefits themselves.

Such hypocrisy is, of course, to be expected if change is imposed from the outside. I don't know what the international community was thinking in forcing others to adopt democratic 'forms' of government. Yes, the form has changed, but the content is still the same. Change must be sincere and driven from within to be valid and long-lasting. To say: become democratic or you are cut off is not going to give birth to true democracy - anyone can see that...

Day 32: Child Soldiers – Part 1

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that the phenomenon of ‘child soldiers’ is an isolated phenomenon within the world – where bad people go and take children from their homes, schools and villages to be soldiers in their war

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that I cannot do anything about the phenomenon of child soldiers within the world – as it is not manifesting within my ‘back yard’ but somewhere ‘out there’ – and that I am powerless in the face of those bad people stealing children for war soldiers

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that the majority of children being in the position of war child / child soldier – are in this position because they ‘chose’ to do so, where they "volunteered" to join the army.

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that the existence of war children / child soldiers comes about through young beings in this world not seeing any other alternative – and see this as the only way to have a chance to survive within this world

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that no child in its right mind will voluntarily enlist in the army to go and kill other beings and be killed – as their ‘choice’ to enlist has been forced unto them through economic, social and religious conditions within their life environment

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that I am in fact in a position to change and stop the manifestation of child soldiers / war children within this world – as I am in a position to change the economic, social and religious conditions which dominate Earth

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that I am in fact one of those “bad people” who force young children into situations of war – through passively accepting and allowing the current world economic system of inequality to exist – a system designed to cater only for those who already have, and leave those who have-not in the cold – and within that I play a role within creating and maintaining the economic conditions within the world which force children to join the army to kill and be killed. Within that I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that I also form part of the solution within the realisation that I do not have to accept and allow this current world economic system to exist – and can demand change, be the change to bring about a world economic system of Equality – where all living beings are catered for equally on the principle and value of Life – instead of make-believe value as money

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to blame the evil within this world for the manifestation of war children / child soldiers – without seeing and realising the role I play within maintaining and feeding this evil within my own lack of understanding of how the world system operates and how the monetary / economic system of the world globally decides on who will live and who will die – as money is what links all human beings together within this world – where if you are lucky enough to be touched and be in the light of money you will live – and if money is out of reach, you are left in the dark

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that the cause of child soldiers / war children lies within the hands of a few “bad people” who force them into war – instead of seeing and realising that the majority of child soldiers / war children are within the position they are in due to widespread poverty, lack of access to educational opportunities and work
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to have created the conditions within this world such as domestic servitude, forced marriage, domestic violence, exploitation and abuse – where the young girls within this world would rather sign up to be a child soldier than stay at home

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that family and ‘home’ should be places of unconditional support, where resources and education are available to assist and support the child in their development so they can be the best they can be – and not a place of abuse and exploitation forcing children to “voluntarily” sign up to join the army where they will kill and be killed --- all because money was not available to them

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that all evil in this world has come about through the unequal distribution of money, by us humans, and the only way to reverse this evil is through putting into place an Economic System of Equality and consideration of Life as the Equal Money System which will eradicate any and all forms of Abuse currently existent within the world as they are the result of an inadequate economic system, which is not here to support All Life

I commit myself to eradicate and annihilate the existence of child soldiers / war children within this world – through committing myself to the eradication of the current world economic system of abuse

I commit myself to expose that the phenomenon of child soldiers / war children is not a manifestation “out there” about which one can do nothing – as this phenomenon is the result of our current world economic system within which we ALL participate and thus ALL play a role in maintaining and feeding it – sending children off to war – instead of being the change to no longer accept and allow this economic system and bring about a world economic system of Equality as the Equal Money System where all support children to LIVE

I commit myself to expose the economic, social, educational, religious conditions within this world which force children into a position of enlisting for the army – as they see no other alternative to having a chance to live through attaining some income through being a child soldier

I commit myself to show that everyone plays a role within creating the manifestation of child soldiers within this world and that one cannot blame “bad people” and the “evil out there” – as we are in fact the evil bad people allowing an economic system as the one we have now rule the world

I commit myself to show that war in itself is the most stupid, atrocious activity invented by humans ever – as the killing and bombing of others whose lives are equal to one’s own in the name of Money which in essence has NO VALUE AT ALL – except for the value we have given it within our minds

And thus I commit myself to expose to Money Scam which has found its way in the lives of everyone on Earth as the belief that Money is God over Life as God
